Donation of a spectrophotometer

A spectrophotometer instrument was donated to the Pharmacy Department by community pharmacist Ms. Thando Katangwe, working in the United Kingdom. Her brother Vusumuzu Katangwe is one of the 4th year BPharm students of the Pharmacy Department.

Donation of Lab Boxes

Through the kind help of Prof. Ralph Altiere, President of the Academic Pharmacy Section of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and Assoc. Prof. Jennifer Marriott, Director of the FIP-UNESCO UNITWIN Programme, the Pharmacy Department has received 50 Lab Boxes with equipment suitable for one pharmacy student to be able to conduct laboratory exercises as part of the pharmacy educational curriculum.

Donation of microscopes

The DAAD programme provided six microscopes in 2017 for pharmacognosy, along with reagents and materials for laboratory classes. Daniel Maennle came from Germany to assist with the setting-up and with practical teaching. DAAD also provided other lab equipment in 2019 to assist with chromatography and analysis.
